What I’m suggesting is that we bring our choices of joy more fully into our awareness so we can multiply them. Any time you make a joy-filled choice, whether it’s shoes you decide to wear that day, or the show you decide to watch on TV, or the route you decide to take to get where you’re going, notice that choice. Notice the feelings you have when you make that choice or the feelings you have as a result of that choice. Notice the thoughts you’re having. And practice those feelings and thoughts as often as you can, in as many choices as you can.
Feel them in your body. Hear them in your mind. Sense them within you and then duplicate those feelings, thoughts and sensations when choosing. The more we do this in our everyday, non-weight related choosing, the more we will start to automatically make choices for our health and our bodies that bring us joy and contentment.
The more often we choose joy, the more joy floods our lives. The more joy we have, and notice, the happier we are, and happy people make choices that support their own stated goals and desires.
Let’s practice noticing our joyful choices, whether they are related to our bodies or not. Let’s start building a habit of taking that moment between stimulus and response, to consider what would bring the most joy to our lives, and then respond happily.
